August 2014 marked the 20th Anniversary of Ray’s famous “epiphany speech” to a handful of associates at Interface, a speech that marked the beginning of the climb up Mount Sustainability by Ray and his company. There is no way to measure how many seeds of change he planted along the way as he traveled the globe teaching others about his “Mid-Course Correction.”
While Ray’s message has resonated to far reaching corners of the earth, it is certainly not a surprise to hear that some of the strongest roots are bearing fruit at his beloved alma mater, Georgia Tech.

Six years ago, the Ray C. Anderson Foundation awarded Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business a $5 million commitment to expand on its original $750,000 seed grant, renaming the Center for Business Strategies for Sustainability the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business.
In May 2014, the Ray C. Anderson Foundation trustees and staff attended the inaugural event at the Center; just the first of many more successful events.
The launching of the Center represented many years of influence, leadership and dreaming for the future on the part of Ray, as well as the Institute’s faculty and administration. For the Foundation, it represents the next chapter of the story that Ray started, giving powerful meaning to his legacy.
