New Pollination Devices Inspired by Bees Increase Crop Yield

Introducing BloomX

Native pollinators help maintain healthy ecosystems. In commercial pollination, reliance on honeybees presents major challenges for growers, especially as local pollinator populations decline. Today, we're sharing a new video highlighting 2023 Ray of Hope finalist Bloom X's answer to those challenges. Inspired by honeybee and other pollinator strategies, BloomX's products increase crop yields while reducing the unsustainable farming practice of shipping billions of bees around the country each growing season. All the while, they are improving growers' ability to feed a rising global population.

The Ray of Hope Accelerator (formerly Prize), administered by the Biomimicry Institute, supports nature-inspired solutions addressing the world's biggest environmental and sustainability challenges. Created in honor of Ray C. Anderson, founder of Interface, Inc. and a business and sustainability leader, the $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize (2020-2023) shone a light on the innovative, nature-inspired solutions that we need to build a sustainable and resilient world. BloomX was selected as a finalist for the 2022 Ray of Hope Prize. Starting in 2024, the Ray of Hope Accelerator, built upon eight years of programming, continues to support and foster a vibrant global community of innovative startups inspired by nature, with more resources.
