Our Divestment from Fossil Fuels

As a part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, the Ray C. Anderson Foundation has decided to divest from fossil fuel exposure in its investment portfolio. The Foundation believes that, in addition to being ethically responsible, this divestment is also fiscally responsible. As sources of renewable energy continue to decline in cost and increase in efficiency, fossil fuels become less and less competitive. Through this divestment, the Foundation is no longer exposed to the risk of a significant decline in the value of fossil fuel companies.

The Foundation defines fossil fuel companies as those with a primary business activity involved in the extraction, transportation, refinement, combustion, or protection of oil, coal and natural gas resources.
