Ray Anderson Awarded World Floor Covering Association Hall of Fame Award at Flooring Sustainability Summit in DC

Scott Humphrey, CEO of the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), posthumously awarded Ray Anderson’s WFCA Hall of Fame Award to Ray’s grandson, John A. Lanier, at the Flooring Sustainability Summit held this week in Washington, D.C.

The award, which is recognized as the pinnacle award within the flooring industry, was given posthumously to the man who founded Interface Inc. (NASDAQ: TILE), and at age 60 shifted his industrial focus to sustainability after reading Paul Hawken’s book The Ecology of Commerce

According to Kemp Harr, publisher of Floor Focus Magazine and who helped present the award, “There is no more fitting venue to present the industry's highest award to Ray Anderson-an icon to both leadership and sustainability, than here in the nation’s capital at this Sustainability Summit. Ray’s gentlemanly southern charisma, passion and gift of telling stories enabled him to credibly convince other business leaders to respect nature and our planet and do less harm."
