Solar Microgrid Trailer Deployed for Disaster Recovery in Southwest Georgia

The solar microgrid trailer that the Foundation funded and premiered at last year's RayDay celebration was sent on its first deployment last week for disaster response.  Many will recall recent news about the tragic fire that started with lightning and destroyed Zebulon United Methodist Church in Pike County, GA.

The solar microgrid, which is based at and deployed from The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church was sent to Zebulon to power one last service on the church grounds before the rebuilding project starts. The trailer provided all necessary power for the service, as well as affirmation to the congregation that they are not alone.

Other partners in the solar microgrid funding, construction and deployment include: The Footprint Project, Cherry Street Energy, General Board of Global Ministries UMC, Adion Solar and Sol-Ark Solar.
