Mycocycle, Inc., a 2022 finalist for the Ray of Hope Prize, is taking on a massive industrial challenge by working with fungi to break down construction waste, such as used asphalt shingles. Their decomposition technology takes what would otherwise have been landfilled and turns it back into a usable feedstock for other construction products like drywall or insulation. By learning from and working with fungi, they are enabling a circular construction economy.
